Named by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 Best Companies to work for, Kinko's is one of the largest chains of document production and business services stores in the world. Kinko's continues to grow rapidly, and now serves over 200,000 business every day.
Larry Holmer, payroll manager at Kinko's, was directly involved with getting the ProBusiness solution up and running. "The way the service was implemented was the smoothest I've ever seen. Despite the complexity of our payroll structure, the entire conversion was completed in just three months. I attribute that to the fact that ProBusiness assigned a project manager who is highly experienced and holds the accreditation of a Certified Payroll Professional. That person knew all the rules and regulations and was going to build something right the first time. The combination of the experienced ProBusiness team and a dedicated project manager assisted by key Kinko's co-workers on our side resulted in a successful implementation. It all clicked."
Once Kinko's outsourced its payroll functions to ProBusiness, it realized immediate benefits. Manual check processing decreased by 390 hours per year, and the update to the General Ledger that once took hours to process now takes only minutes. Because less time is spent performing manual tasks, the payroll staff can focus on more important issues and is able to address employee inquiries more quickly and efficiently.
"What we really wanted was a total process improvement for our payroll and payroll tax functions," says Jeff Moxie, vice president of accounting at Kinko's. "ProBusiness was the one vendor that could address our strategic need for process mapping, plus provide all the other elements of a successful outsourcing solution."
